Motherhood and humanity

Thought of the day: motherhood makes you more human. Caring for a little one allows you to truly love another unconditionally and selflessly.

Little man has a cold and I wish I could have it instead of him. My mama used to say that when I was sick but I never truly understood it until now. Real love is so very different from what the movies and tv show. Real love is sacrifice driven by the desire to will the good of another. You often hear of a "mother's love" but I never really got it until now.

Oh, how I love my little man.

Old Wives' Tales

I have fallen victim to trying old wives' tales to naturally induce labor. 


So far, I've tried walking and lots of "labor" cookies aka spice cookies with cayenne pepper.

BOY!


We had our baby shower last weekend and we revealed to the world that our baby-to-be is a boy!  The world better watch out for Ari Francis.  


It was hard to keep this secret for nearly 3 whole months, but it was well worth it!  We used a "reveal cake" and had a blast at our shower.

Winter Highlights

So, my friends, winter is over.  Yesterday was the first official day of spring...although the past two weeks have actually felt more like summer than anything else.


Winter was unusually warm this year because of La Nina, but I'm still waiting for a freak snowstorm... 


Anyway, here are the "winter" highlights:


1. January 3rd - Finding out if Nugget is a boy or girl - which will be revealed at our baby shower 
2. Husband feeling Nugget move for the first time :) 
3. Several date days: Deep River Park, the Zoo, Orland Park, Valentine's Date at Ciao Bella's 
4. Surprise junk food date night: McDonald's, followed by The Vow, followed by popcorn, 2 bags of M&Ms, sprite, followed by pie and coffee at Baker's Square   <3 

Maternity Photo Shoot

I had another maternity photoshoot this past weekend...thanks to my oh so lovely photographer husband. 


We went to the park and the weather was super nice so it became an impromptu photoshoot.  See the picture here!

Dude!!! World!!!! I won't be surprised if I wake up tomorrow with a bruise on the side of my head! My head was on my wife's stomach and I said "Daddy's here. Hi Nugget!" Not more than 3 seconds after I got kung fu karata jib jab kicked! I wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. Does nugget like me or not? Katie said, "It's a love kick because nugget had to kick me too.

Apparently, our little ninja likes to mess with Daddy already :)
